Young Thorfinn seeks vengeance for the death of his father. His quest takes him on an adventure throughout the Viking world.
As a child growing up in a remote village in Iceland, Thorfinn knew his father as a loving, peaceful man, a simple farmer. He would spend quiet evenings together with his family listening to wild tales. Tales told by his father’s friend, the great Viking explorer Leif Ericson, of a land far to the west.
But one day his father’s bloody past catches up to him and Thorfinn learns that he was once a terrifying Viking warrior. When his father is killed in battle in front of his eyes, Thorfinn is changed forever and he sets out on a dark path of violence and vengeance.
Revenge is a double-edged sword
Thorfinn believes he must become strong to avenge his father. But what did his father mean with his last words? “Become a true warrior. A true warrior needs no sword.”
Thorfinn begins to realize that the circle of vengeance is never ending, and he dreams of a place without war, violence, and slavery. The land Leif called Vinland. Could it truly exist?
