About the organisation
The libraries in the Umeå Region are made up of the public libraries in the municipalities of Bjurholm, Nordmaling, Robertsfors, Umeå, Vindeln and Vännäs. Borrowers have one library card for the entire region and cooperation ensures that books can be borrowed from and returned to at any of the libraries in the region.
The Umeå Region has a total of 25 public libraries, including the Bookmobile in Umeå.

The Committee for Culture and Education is responsible for library activities.

Umeå Public Library, Bookmobile, Ersboda Library, Grubbe Library, Mariehem’s Library, Teg’s Library and Ålidhem’s Library are under the supervision of the Cultural Committee, Umedalen’s Library is under the Pre-school and Compulsory Education Administration. The libraries in the municipals are under the respective Municipal District Boards.
